20 Productivity-Boosting Study Room Ideas

Inspiring Spaces To Help You Work Better

We’ve all procrastinated at some point in our lives, especially in school. I sure have! But I think good study room ideas play a big part in boosting our productivity. You won’t be very motivated to work if your space is drab or cluttered, right? So since it’s back to school season, I think it’s a great time to remodel your workspace, whether it’s at home or in your dorm. That way, you can start the new school year with fresh new study room ideas. Keep scrolling to check out some of my favorite study room ideas.

1. Colorful

If you’re easily bored at your desk, incorporate colorful study room ideas into your space. Bright colors like red, pink, blue, or orange can perk you up when you’re feeling lazy.

2. Wood and Pastels

On the other hand, if you’re a workaholic like me you need more relaxing study room ideas. Pastel colors like green and blue are very relaxing, and wood helps create a homey vibe. This is my new dream workspace!

3. Neutrals

Aside from pastel colors, neutral tones are also very relaxing study room ideas. A white desk is refreshing, and it’s got a clean look you need so you can focus on studying.

4. Gold Accents

If you’re sitting at a boring desk, you may have a tendency to look away or get distracted by other things around you. So it’s a good idea to jazz up your desk, that way your attention will stay in one area. Gold accents (and even some streamers!) will turn your desk into a fun, enjoyable space to be.

5. Windows

Windows are one of my all-time favorite study room ideas. If you need a study break to rest your eyes or relax, it’s so convenient to have a window you can look out of. Make it extra relaxing by placing some plants or greens!

6. Study Nook

Some people study best if they can really concentrate on their work. If you’re one of those people, create a study nook with walls on both sides of your desk. This way, you can block out any distractions.

7. Organized

You’ll only be able to study well if you actually have space to do so. I’m also guilty of a messy desk sometimes! To keep your desk neat and tidy, invest in organizers: extra drawers, shelves, a cork board or a peg board.

8. Cozy

On the other hand, some people also work best if they’re comfortable. Comfort is key for every room in your home, honestly! Bring in study room ideas like warm wood furniture, cozy and trendy pieces like throws or ottomans, and keep a blanket by your workspace for when you’re pulling all-nighters. Doesn’t this room look really cozy and inviting? I could spend a whole day here.

9. Accent Wall

Other study room ideas you can do to spruce up your space include adding an accent wall. This is also a great way to mark your space if you’re sharing a dorm room, or if you have a small apartment and don’t have a whole room for a study. These bold stripes are super chic!

10. Natural Light

If you’re holed up in a cramped space all day, I doubt you’ll be very productive. Open up your workspace with study room ideas like big windows and other sources of natural light. Looking out and seeing a nice view can be very relaxing, and you won’t have to leave your desk to enjoy it.

11. Large Desks

Don’t work very well staring at a wall? Place your desk at the center of the room instead of flushing it to a wall. It’s another one of those study room ideas that can really open up your space.

12. Curtains

13. Extra Shelving

There are times when I start working, and then I realize I need something in another room or far from my desk and I waste time looking for it. So when you work, make sure you have all the necessities at close to you. Extra shelves are great study room ideas to help you store all your essentials.

14. Bookworm

This is a bookworm’s dream! If you’re a literature major or you just need lots of books, build extra shelves on the wall so you have all your textbooks and study materials at arm’s length.

15. Homey Modern

There is such a thing as getting too comfy. Balance out homey elements like a brick wall, wicker furniture, and plants with modern decors like a chic white desk or a trendy chair.

16. High Ceiling

Big, open spaces can be more conducive to productivity. High ceilings give you more air circulation, let in more natural light, and are generally more comfortable places to study in.

17. Corner Desk

Need extra work space? Or are you a multi-tasker? Consider a corner desk instead of a wider or deeper desk. This way you can move around and multi-task easier, but also concentrate on specific things.

18. Minimalist

On the other hand, I find that sometimes I work best in a clean, simple space. Minimalist study room ideas like plain white walls and neutral colors can help clear your mind and help you concentrate on studying.

19. Black and White

For study room ideas, I generally like to stick with a maximum of two colors. A simple (but not drab!) space can boost your productivity and minimize distractions. Black and white is very chic, but also simple in the best way possible.

20. Boho Chic

If you’re not a fan of simple study room ideas, other homey study room ideas include going boho chic. It’s a great way to show off your personal style! Pick pretty patterns, comfy chairs, and laid-back decor.
